Stefi Donisi Milonga
Porteña Associazione Tamotango
Stefi Donisi, a Neapolitan engineer
"emigrated" to Rome, started his career as a dancer, teacher and
choreographer at the Argentine Tango center "Astor Piazzolla" in Rome.
After a thorough instruction under the best international
teachers, he started giving tango classes, on behalf of the "Astor Piazzolla"
center in the most important dance schools in Rome. He has often worked
with Eva Perez in various shows and dance events in Germany, also teaching
a high number of stages.
He started teaching on his own in 1997, when he opened a tango
school in Naples. Since 1999, he left his position as an engineer in a
company in Rome and, back in his city of origin, entirely devoted himself
to teaching tango, this form of art which changed his life.
In 2003 his school was granted the quality certificate
of the "Academia Nacional del tango argentino", a government institution
of Buenos Aires chaired by Horacio Ferrer.
Much more than just a dance, he regards tango as a way of
communicating deep feelings, as well as a manner of playing and improvising
within the dance couple, beyond verbality and manipulation. For this
reason, his school is having an enormous success in a city, such as Naples,
which finds in the participative attitude to communicate one of its
most marked traits of identity.
Tango in Naples
When Stefi Donisi opened his school in Naples, tango
was poorly known in the city. It was an elitarian leisure activity
carried out by few dozens people. In his first class, Stefi had
ten students, and soon numbers grew. In seven years of teaching,
the number of people who were introduced to the dance is of about 2000
and his school has about 150 students now.
In these years Stefi Donisi organized and carried out countless
initiatives in order to promote Argentinean tango: shows with Neapolitan dancers
and with artists of world renown, as Osvaldo Zotto and Lorena Ermocida,
Miguel Angel Zotto and Soledad Rivero, Facundo and Kely Posadas, Roberto
Herrera and Natacha Poberaj, Tetè, Alejandra Mantiñan and Gabriel Missè,
Eduardo and Gloria Arquimbau, Guglielmo and Maira, Marta Antòn and Luis
Grondona, Nestor and Patricia Ray.
He took part in many initiatives and shows in various theatres.
For example, Teatro Augusteo, Teatro "Tasso", Terme di Agnano, Galleria Umberto
I, S.Severo al Pendino church, Villa Comunale in the context of the Maggio dei
Monumenti 2000 event, Conservatorio di S.Pietro a Maiella (with the trio Novi
Tango of Hugo Aisemberg), the "Rassegna di musica nei salotti napoletani"
music review, in collaboration with the Associazione Musicisti Italiani
del teatro San Carlo, Napoli Strit Festival - International review of
Street Arts (organized by the City of Naples) for the years 1999 and 2000,
Ciao 2000 (in occasion of the New Year 2000) in Piazza del Plebiscito (Naples),
TanghInGalleria (march 2000, show organized by the City of Naples),
Teatro Nuovo during the Festival Latino Americano, Teatro Comunale of Benevento,
Auditorium of the teatro Bellini, Teatro Comunale of Caserta. He teaches tango
at the theatre school of Renato Carpentieri, with whom he took part in one
occasion to the TV serial "La squadra". He has been organizing
the Tano Tango Festival since 2003.
