Tanotango - VII Festival Internazionale del Tango Argentino. Un festival che lega profondamente la storia e la cultura che ospita alla storia e alla cultura ospitata: Napoli e Buenos Aires, la canzone napoletana e il tango.
Naples, august 31 - september 5, 2010
A festival which deeply links the guest and the host, both in terms of history and traditions: Naples and Buenos Aires, the Neapolitan song and the tango. For this reason the name of the festival has drawn on the term "Tano", a short form for "Napolitano", which is a word still used in Buenos Aires to indicate all the immigrants of Italian origin, not necessarily of Neapolitan descent.
The
Tano Tango festival is becoming a traditional appointment for both tango lovers
and, more generally, for those interested in Argentine culture. Its speciality
is to involve the most celebrated artists of the
Argentinean Tango scene in the incredible beauty of Naples and of its
surroundings.
The locations: the Royal Palace, home of the Borbone, kings of Naples and of the Two Sicilies, will be the seat of the grand evening, which will include the concert of the quarteto Esteban Morgado, one of the best tango guitarists in the world, who makes audiences enthusiastic with his classical and modern sounds. During the concert the exhibition of one of the most famous couples of tango dancers will take place: Alejandra Mantiñan and Horacio Godoy. After the concert, the dancing evening will start, which includes the exhibition of all the maestros of the festival, who will entertain the audience with their skill.
The
festival will open with a spectacular evening: we well watch sunset in the
middle of the sea, more than one kilometre from the coast, on the North
Pier of the Bagnoli area, where we will dance
tango surrounded by the beauty of the city and by its recent history. Free
entrance evening in which all the Maestros of the Festival will be introduced
Also free will be the entrance to the second part of the evening, at the Milonga Porteña where we can dance until dawn.
The free entrance for the first evening, and the very inexpensive admittance fees for the other evenings are the fruit of a cost containing policy which makes our festivals one of the most affordable in the world
The
Ilva at Bagnoli is the
club of the workers at the former ILVA steel plant (ITALSIDER), which, for good
or bad, did shape the blue collar history of our city The Ilva club has a
wonderful terrace over the sea, and has always been one of the locations of the
festival.
This
year this evening will be held on Friday, and will
include the exhibition of a very entertaining coule of Argentine dancers,
"Los Hermanos Macanā",
very skilled and impish, who will share the scene with Lorena Ermocida and Fabian Peralta,
she one of the most elegant bailarinas in the world, he one of the fulfilled
promises of the tango scene.
After
the succes of last year, we will be back to the roof garden of the Hotel Mediterraneo,a wonderful
terrace dominating downtown, very close to the harbour, and with a breathtaking
vista, which will fascinate both the newcomers and those who already learned to love it.
Two
evenings will be held here, in which we will dance both traditional tango and "nuevo".
We will have two exhibitions per day: Wednesday, Mariana Dragone and Diego Riemer "El
Pajaro", who will share the scene with Lorena
Pastōr and Gustavo Guarnieri, two couples who use rythm as a
spectacular and entertaining way of communicating.
As far as low prices are involved, we are keeping faithful to our cost containing policy: besides the almost free ( (5 euros) of the "absolute beginner" classes, for whoever wants to start tango for the first time, costs are such as to satisfy whoever wants to get deeper and deeper knowledge of the dance, steeply decreasing with the increased number of reserved classes: from 25 to 10 euros per class. However, we added a number of "special classes", open to a maximum six persons per class, which allow participants to engage in a more direct contact with the instructors. These classes are, obviously, more expensive, but always with a reasonable price.
No private classes will be organised. The "absolute beginner" classes will be held by the instructors of the Milonga Porteņa in its seat of Fuorigrotta (via Gennaro Capuozzo, 52 - www.tamotango.it); all other classes will be held at the Hotel Mediterraneo (4 stars hotel in the centre of the city), which will be the fulcrum of our festival, the location of the registration office, the meeting point from which the shuttle buses for the other locations will start and the place in which two evenings will be held
Low prices do not imply bad quality (which, actually, is world-level); the beauty of the locations, the cast, the reception system, the opportunity of lunching at the hotel at a fixed fare of 10 euros, the parking, are only examples of the painstaking care of details which we use in organising "TanoTango", a festival around which the passion for our dance, the tango: TamoTango.
